Power Of Attorney

Have you considered what might happen in the unfortunate event that you or a loved one are unable to manage your own affairs due to illness or incapacity? It is worth considering that you may want to appoint an Attorney to deal with your affairs if you are unable to in the future. In the absence of an Attorney your loved ones or close relatives and friends may have to make an application to the Courts for a Court Order enabling them to deal with your finances and such an application can be both costly and lengthy.

Power of Attorney
For Financial Affairs

We can prepare a Power of Attorney that will enable your chosen relatives or friends to look after your financial and other affairs if you are unable to do so for whatever reason.  This could include being away for an extended period of time, being housebound or becoming mentally incapable of managing your own affairs.

Our service includes discussing your requirements, preparing the Power of Attorney, obtaining all signatures thereto, sending out appropriate notifications to other relatives and registering the Power with the Office of the Public Guardian as is now required by law before the Power can be used by your Attorneys and the current fee for registration is £82.00.

Please telephone the office to obtain our instruction form or download the form to complete and return to us to get started.

Power of Attorney
For Health & Welfare

This deals with health decisions which can range from residential care to withholding life prolonging treatment in the event that you are not able to make decisions for yourself such as being mentally incapable or being in a coma.

In particular you may need a Health and Welfare LPA where your nearest and dearest is not your legal next of kin such as where you are not married or in a civil partnership or where you would not want your legal next of kin to be the person making these important decisions for you.   You can choose anyone and it does not have to be a relative.  Once completed your LPA must be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian and the current fee for registration is £82.00.

Please telephone the office to obtain an instruction form or download the form to complete and return to us to get started.
